Why We’ve Partnered With National Ski Patrol

Because safety starts long before the call comes in

If you’ve spent time on the mountain, you’ve seen them—the folks in the red jackets who show up when something goes sideways. Ski patrollers are often the calm in the chaos. They’re stabilizing injuries, managing avalanche terrain, helping lost families, and responding when the unexpected happens.

The National Ski Patrol (NSP) has been doing this work since 1938, helping keep our mountains safer for everyone who loves to ski, snowboard, hike, bike and explore. Today, more than 30,000 patrollers serve across the country, and most of them are volunteers. They’re trained first responders working in some of the most demanding environments imaginable.

What many people don’t realize is that NSP is a national non-profit organization. That means the training, education, and resources that prepare patrollers for those critical moments rely heavily on fundraising and partner support.

That’s where we saw an opportunity to help.

Partnering for a Higher Purpose

At YoColorado, we’ve always believed that mountain culture is about more than just getting outside—it’s also about looking out for each other. So partnering with the National Ski Patrol felt like a natural fit. Together, we launched the YoColorado x National Ski Patrol collection, the first in a multi-year partnership between our two Colorado-based organizations.

The inaugural collection, launched in January of 2025, celebrates mountain culture while giving back in a real way. Twenty percent of every direct purchase goes directly to NSP to support ski patroller training and education programs.

Our goal was to create mountain and retro-inspired outdoor lifestyle apparel that not only looks good but also helps tell the story of the people who keep our mountains safe. Our goal is to help shine a light on the service and dedication of patrollers across the country.

Working with NSP has been especially meaningful for us personally. As people who spend a lot of time outside in Colorado, we know how important it is to have skilled professionals ready when things go wrong.
